DR. DAVE'S FITNESS FACTS How Fast Should You Walk?
You need to walk approximately 4 miles per hour to get optimal cardiovascular benefits. That means if you can walk two miles in 30 minutes or less, your heart rate will be in your target heart rate zone and you will be using fat as a primary energy source. You will still get cardiovascular benefits if you walk slower than 4 mph, but you will not be burning fat optimally.
